Wir leben heute in einer Datengesellschaft, in der nahezu alle Aspekte unseres Lebens von Daten berührt werden. Designer sollten hier als kritische und produktive Vermittler agieren und unsichtbare Prozesses sichtbar machen. Die gestalterischen Konzepte, die im Fachgebiet Informationsdesign an der Hochschule Mainz entstanden sind, thematisieren die damit verbundenen Herausforderungen und machen Daten für unsere Gesellschaft erfassbar und erfahrbar. In interdisziplinären Projekten werden Themen, die uns heute durch die digitale Erhebung und Verfügbarkeit von Daten begegnen, analysiert, hinter leuchtet und kommentiert.

Die vorliegende Platform ist eine Sammlung an kritischen und produktiven Gestaltungslösungen in Form von App-Konzepten, Datenillustrationen, Informationsgrafiken, Datenvisualisierungen, fiktiven Konzepten und Webseiten.

Today we live in a data society in which almost all aspects of our lives are affected by data. Designers should act as critical and productive mediators and make invisible processes visible. The design concepts, which were developed in the Department of Information Design at Mainz University of Applied Sciences, address the challenges involved and make data comprehensible and tangible for our society. In interdisciplinary projects, topics that we encounter today through the digital collection and availability of data are analysed, illuminated and commented on.

This platform is a collection of critical and productive design solutions in the form of app concepts, data illustrations, information graphics, data visualisations, fictitious concepts and websites.
